-Sunday, April 1, 10 am to 6 pm – Spring Fling Shopping Trails in Occidental.  For more information, contact Sherry Huss at Renga Arts or visit www.russianriver.com.

-Sunday, April 1, 1 pm – Annual Fools Day Parade through Downtown Occidental.  Form up for the Parade in the Occidental Community Center parking lot at 12:30 pm, dressed in your foolish finery.  The Parade will travel down Main Street and then across Bohemian Highway and up the other side of Downtown.  Groups are encouraged.  Please no motorized vehicles, no corporate anything (except parody), and no smoking.  Please be responsible for your play.

-Sunday, April 1, 12-6 pm  - Occidental Center for the Arts. presents the “Monoprint Show” celebrating the opening of the gallery at the Center. This as an opportunity to view and purchase works by local artists from the Laguna Print Studios outside Occidental.  The show consists of large works on paper, mostly monoprints. The beauty of monoprints is their creativity, spontaneity, and improvisation. Fifty percent of the sale of these works benefits the Center. Artists are: Jocelyn Audette, Caulfield Valganon, Ryan Douglas, Branka Harris, Dana Hawly, Hanya Popva-Parker, Pieter Myers, Bill Wheeler, Adam Wolpert, Wilder Bentley and others. The opening takes place at The Occidental Center for the Arts, Graton Rd. and Bohemian Hwy. in Occidental. For information, call 874-9392.

-Sunday, April 1, 2 pm -The Occidental Center for the Arts presents “Beyond the Imagination Tour” with Dustin Coupe', Illusionist, magician and escape artist. From Las Vegas to San Francisco, Hawaii to Florida, Dustin has mystified audiences with his unique blend of music, magic, and illuminating special effects in his Broadway-style performances. The event takes place at the Occidental Center for the Arts, Graton Rd. and Bohemian Hwy. in Occidental. This is a benefit for the Center. Suggested donation is $10 under 16 and $20 for adults. -Tuesday, April 3, 5:30 pm (first Tuesday) – Harmony Schools Special Focus Meetings.  March’s subject is Environmental Education.  Join teachers staff, and parents in exploring the issues significant to the school and its students.  Contact the school for more information.

-Thursday, April 5, 7 pm (first Thursday) – ARK Meeting.  The ARK Foundation is a support group to support Harmony, Salmon Creek and Blend Schools.  Their meetings alternate monthly between morning and evening times on the first Thursday so that it will be more convenient for families to attend. -Wednesday, April 11 (second Wednesday), 6 pm - monthly meeting of the Occidental Chamber of Commerce held at the Union Hotel Pizzeria.  Everyone who is interested in business issues in Occidental is invited.  For more information, call Cheri Keel, President, 874-3279.

-Thursday, April 19 (third Thursday), 7 pm - Harmony School Board is meeting at Salmon Creek School.

 

 

Weekly Events

-Mondays and Wednesdays, 12 noon – Senior Luncheon at St. Philips Center. All are welcome to join this fun and active group. There is a suggested donation of $3.50 for seniors and $6.00 for those under 60. For reservations or more information, call the Council on Aging at 525-0143. No one goes home hungry!

-Mondays, 10 am to 1 pm – Summer Garden Family Work/Play Days at Salmon Creek School. They will make garden snacks and herbal teas, medicines and culinary items. They will explore the garden, tend plants, plant, water, weed, observe, tell stories, harvest and picnic every Monday. Herbal sun tea will be provided. -Mondays, 7:30 pm – Drop-in dodge ball at the Occidental YMCA. $3 per person. For more information contact Dominique Solieu at 874-2242.

-Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 am to 10 am – Qigong for Health – a Qigong/Tai Chi class held at St. Philips Center twice each week. Held every Tuesday and Thursday (except the second Tuesday of each month). A donation of $5 per class ($1 for those with chronic illness or disability) is requested. -Tuesdays, 7 pm – Sacred Song from the Afro-Brazilian Traditions. Weekly hour and a half class in song, beginning September 5. Roots in authentic movement without specific religious connotation. -Wednesdays, 10 am to 4 pm – Garden Volunteer Wednesdays. Drop by the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center anytime between 10 am and 4 pm every Wednesday to help out in the garden mornings, afternoons, or all day. Lunch is served at 12:30 pm. -Thursdays, 9 am to 4 pm – Garden Volunteer Day at Ocean Song. Bring a lunch or food to share. If it rains, there will be work in the barn processing seeds that were saved from last year.
